Windswept, Southbury, Conn.

I was fascinated by the repetition of rooftop vents on this abandoned cow barn and the staunch, vine-covered chimney to the left. The decorative vent on the heating plant in the rear gave a churchlike aspect on this windswept winter day.

Spring Snow, Bridgewater, Conn.

Photo copyright 2016 by Marc Isolda The first day of spring opened with snow on the branches outside my window. I knew that this was probably the last snowfall of the season and would melt quickly. I rushed to the pond on … Continue reading

Snow Fence, Bridgewater, CT

Photo copyright 2015 by Marc Isolda Spring is around the corner, and the snowfields are melting. The dramatic sky made me stop on this blustery March day to photograph from my car window. I’m lucky to pass beautiful scenes like this on my way home. All I … Continue reading

Leaning Fence, Bridgewater CT Land Trust

Photo copyright 2015 by Marc Isolda The leaning fence leading back, as fence lines tend to do, made me stop to make this image. The natural light reflecting from the snow onto the fence enhanced its detail in a fleeting moment when the sky … Continue reading

“I Did My Duty,” Abandoned Truck, Southbury, CT

Photo copyright 2015 by Marc Isolda The Vietnam era army truck, left to deteriorate in the snow, made me think of what it might have to say for itself now that it was out to pasture for good. As war surplus, it … Continue reading

Sunset and Snow, Sherman, CT

Photo copyright 2015 by Marc Isolda The hour-long drive home, made even longer by traffic and treacherous roads on that late afternoon, turned glorious for me as the sky in the west began to clear and the light snow continued … Continue reading

Barn in Winter, Bethlehem, CT

Photo Copyright 2015 by Marc Isolda The layer of snow on the stone wall angling back, the peak of the roof pointing up toward the clouds scudding across the sky, and the distant eddies of snow dancing on the far horizon completed for … Continue reading

Lone Rider, Bridgewater, CT

Photo copyright 2014 by Marc Isolda I spotted the rider at the crest of the hill on a chilly December morning. She had to be warmer on horseback than I was crunching on foot through snow covered fields. But a … Continue reading
